Kendo & Iaido Classes

Interested in learning Kendo or Iaido? Classes for beginners are available through Tacoma Metro Parks STAR Center.  Introductory classes taught by Yoshikawa Sensei covers basic techniques, skills, discipline, and self-development in a traditional dojo setting.

No special equipment or clothing is necessary. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes suitable for active exercise, and bring a water bottle.

First timers are more than welcome to come and watch! So feel free to see what it’s all about!

Kendo:

  • Beginner Kendo class practice is every Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the STAR Center.

  • $44 a month through the Star Center website

  • Advanced Kendo practice is through the TKIC Club practice and is held at Wednesdays & Fridays from 7:15 to 9:00 PM and Sundays from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. (please contact the club for location and more info)

  • $40 TIKC Dues (monthly) and AUSKF Dues (yearly)

Iaido:

  • Iaido class for all ages is every Monday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at the STAR Center.

  • $44 a month through the Star Center website

  • Advanced Iaido are on Sundays from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Advanced Iaido practice is through the TKIC Club practice . (please contact the club for location and more info)

  • $40 TIKC Dues (monthly) and AUSKF Dues (yearly)
